Community Service & Social Action Committee The Community Service & Social Action Committee promotes member involvement in volunteer legal and community service, while empowering leadership and advocacy to affect social change. It advances the MBLA’s voice on public policy and legal issues and implements programs that educate and engage around social justice. | Financial Literacy Task Force The Financial Literacy Task Force was established in 2024 to address the financial challenges many of our members face during and after law school. The committee is dedicated to enhancing members’ financial knowledge, investments, wellness, decision-making skills, and long-term financial well-being. Our goal is to equip members with practical tools and insights to make informed financial choices that support both their personal and professional goals. | Governance Committee The Governance Committee will focus on best practices for the board and serve as a resource as operational issues arise. |
Judicial Affairs Committee The purpose of the Judicial Affairs Committee is to support and empower attorneys from marginalized communities who aspire to join the Judiciary or pursue a Clerk of Court position in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. | Membership Development Committee The Membership Development Committee is established to help grow and engage our community by recruiting new members, fostering meaningful connections, and supporting initiatives that strengthen retention and involvement. Weekly or Monthly Time Commitment: Varies, typically around two hours per week, with additional time required when actively planning signature events. Meetings are held as needed. Signature Event: Fall Reception | Student Support Committee The Student Support Committee is established to help reach and engage law students by recruiting new members and helping develop and foster a connection with law students and the MBLA through meaningful events, programming, and mentorship. Wellness Task Force The Wellness Task Force was established to create a positive, supportive environment by identifying wellness needs, and creating programs and events to support wellness-related initiatives throughout the year. | Black Attorneys Leading in Law (B.A.L.L.) Subcommittee B.A.L.L. is a subcommittee dedicated to supporting and advancing Black male attorneys by addressing the unique challenges they face both within and beyond the legal profession. The group creates space for open dialogue around issues such as underrepresentation, bias, barriers to advancement, workplace culture, and mental health, while also acknowledging broader societal pressures including racism, systemic inequities, and social isolation. Through candid conversation and community building, B.A.L.L. aims to foster resilience, professional growth, and a stronger, more connected network of Black legal professionals. | Student Scholarship Selection Committee The Student Scholarship Selection Committee handles the administrative concerns related to the student scholarship search and award, including reviewing and scoring submissions. |
Newsletter Committee The Newsletter Committee is responsible for working with the President to create content for the newsletter. | 2027 GALA Committee The Gala Committee works with the President and the Event Planner to assist in the planning of the gala. |
